Edible Glue Recipes

Using edible glues can be very useful when crafting with your young one. You will generally have easier clean up, you can make them out of your own kitchen, and you don't have to worry so much about what ends up in the mouth! It also creates more opportunities to craft with food products. This can be a lot of fun, especially with small children. Cherrios can be made into so many things! Learning about shapes can be more fun too! Cheerio circles and Graham Cracker rectangles are a lot more enticing for toddlers! Another helpful hint when using glue and toddlers is to pour a little bit of glue in a dixie cup. Then give your toddler a Q-Tip to use to apply. It will help reduce the mess and provide them another opportunity to practice those motor skills!

Meringue Powder Glue Recipe

You will need water and meringue powder. You can find meringue powder in a Bakery supply store or craft supply store such as Michael's

Whisk together 2 tablespoons of water with 2 teaspoons of meringue powder and you have glue! Easy as that! Make sure to store glue in the refrigerator while not using.

Cornstarch Glue Recipe

You will need cornstarch and water. This recipe requires use of an oven. You may want to prepare it ahead of time without the help of your toddler.

Combine 1/4 cup of cornstarch with a 1/2 cup of water in a saucepan. Stir these together until smootucepan and stir until smooth. Heat over medium heat until the mixture is thick and translucent. Allow to cool to touch and you are ready to go!

Other products that can be used as glue include cornstarch and honey. While these may take a long time to dry and will not have the stickiest affect, they will often work to keep small projects working. If you have more ideas, comment on Facebook! We love ideas and more suggestions!
