Ice Cream Toddler Activity
Toddlers and children of all ages love ice cream. What better way to explore colors and shape than a craft to celebrate ice cream!
For this activity you will need construction paper, scissors, and glue.
Before the activity, prepare the different pieces so that your toddler can begin with gluing. Cut a triangle cone shaped piece of brown for the cone part of the ice cream and several circles for the ice cream. You should not need a template to do so, if you want your circles to be precise, a great way to do so is use a tupperware lid as a template. Then have your toddler glue the ice cream cone together and decorate as desired. A great addition for the little ones is to give them glitter glue to make some shimmer on top. You can find them at most craft supply stores and they have a little brush that the toddlers can use to "paint" the area which is much tidier.
Don't forget to use this time to build vocabulary skills by talking about the letter I and shapes that you are using. Throw in some conversation about color as toddlers learn the most from repetitiveness. In this activity, your toddler will also be practicing reasoning when placing the pieces together and fine motor skills.
When using different colors on your scoops of ice cream, this can be a wonderful activity to practice color. Don't forget to check out our Colors Theme Section for more ideas!
