One Year Old Games
Your little one may not be able to keep up with older toddlers yet, but they sure are trying! These games are sure to keep them running and laughing! These games are also perfect for a Pet Week or Letter C for Cat Week as they all correlate with animal dramatic play!
Cat and Mice Game
One child is the cat and hides and the rest of the players are mice. The mice try to sneak up to the cat's hiding place and paw at the ground. That is the signal for the cat to chase the mice and try to catch one. Make sure that your toddler is on their hands and knees pretending to be the animals as dramatic play is great fun for them. Don't worry if they do not "truely" hide due to young age, they will love the game all the same. You can also "help" them hide by covering them with a blanket.
Poor Kitty
Let one of the children be the kitten. The rest of your tots can sit in a circle on the floor. The kitty crawls on all fours and sadly stops by each child to say "meow". That person should then "pet" the kitty on the head and say "Nice Kitty," withouth even the trace oof a smile. The first person to smile, laugh, or giggle, becomes the new kitty. Have no fear if the game is a little disorganized, younger tots may just love petting and playing with the "poor kitty".
