Pick Ups



This may seem like a no brainer to some, but pick up is one of a newbie toddlers favorite games.  They love to see how many things that they can hold in their hand while walking.  They also enjoy trying to bend down and pick up the item and stand back up.  This game can easily occupy them for hours indoor or outdoors and will help them practice these new found motor skills at the same time.  Try finding an item that is creative, that your toddler will enjoy picking up.  Legos or Trio sticks work well, or drinking straws.  Try to find something narrow so they can hold more than one item at a time.  You will also need a bag or a container to put the items in.  Toss three or four in an area and help your toddler pick them up and put them in the container.  Then empty and begin again.  Your new walker will be so excited that they are able to complete this task and it will give you a great time to watch them and take some cute first step pictures!
