Question Pretzels Easiest Pretzel Recipe Ever!

Using Pretzels as your material, you can cook and learn at the same time about the letter Q. There are few words that toddlers come in regular contact with that start with the letter Q. Question Mark is one of them and they can be made easily as a pretzel. What fun your youngster will have learning, cooking, and eating the letter Q!

You will need for this recipe:

10 ounces refrigerated pizza dough
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon water
sesame seeds
coarse salt
garlic salt

The beauty of this recipe is that it uses a premade dough. Start by unrolling the pizza dough onto an 18-inch piece of lightly floured waxed paper. Roll dough into a 16 by 10 inch rectangle. Cut dough lengthwise into 10 1 inch-wide strips.

This is where you can give the strip of dough to your your older toddlers to make the question mark themselves. With the younger ones, it may be best to help them roll the dough and place into the shape. You could also shape the question mark and let your smaller toddlers form the circles for the dots. It can be great fun, if the dough gets warm, it can start to get sticky though, so try not to take too long.

Make sure to talk to them about what a question is, explain it to them in their own terms. An example is when you want to know the answer to something, you ask a question. Also focusing on the sound 'que' like in 'question mark' is plenty of a lesson for smaller toddlers. Remember it is about introduction of concepts and repetition at the early ages, do not expect them to grasp all concepts just yet. It is great to play a little game of questions with the older toddlers, but the younger ones probably will not be able to follow you lead.

Place pretzels 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Stir together egg and water.

Brush pretzels with egg mixture. Sprinkle with sesame seed, coarse salt, garlic salt or onion salt. Bake in a 350F degree oven for 15 to 17 minutes or until golden. Serve warm.

Now you can enjoy the reward and eat your Q's and Question Marks!

Remember, this is a perfect recipe and activity to use for any letter study!

Parenting Tip - Tape to the Rescue!

Try giving your toddler a piece of masking tape. It sounds unexciting, but toddlers love tape. Show your toddler how to use it to stick to things, including their body. Have them put it on their body parts, ears, mouth, hand, ect… It will keep your toddler busy and engaged and is sure to buy you the few extra minutes you need to finish your task at hand with some calmness!

This can be especially helpful when trying to finish up supper!

Studies have shown that an average 24 month old toddler can say around 50 words. At any age, children can understand more words than they can say. During the third year of life, a toddler's "receptive vocabulary" will grow by a few thousand words!
