Rice Play

Rice provides a sensory experience that is fun for toddlers. Empty a couple bags into a dish or bucket and place inside measuring cups, spoons, and other creative toys for your toddler. They will enjoy picking up the grains of rice and mixing and pouring them. You can also use a couple drops of food coloring to a cup before letting your child play with it. This makes colored rice, which can be even more fun!

In this activity, your child will be learning and practicing fine motor skills such as measuring, pouring, stirring, and picking up the rice. You can also practice language development by talking with your toddler about what you are making during play.
