Toddler Activities Using Water
Toddlers love playing in water. It intrigues them to splash and pour water and at the same time it increases sensory motor skills.
Summer months provide a great opportunity for toddlers to get wet and stay comfortable at the same time. Also no mess as everything can be outside!
We hope you enjoy some of these great ideas! Please submit your own idea, we would love to post it!
Hot Temperature Activity
Take time in your day to explore the word and temperature of hot with your toddler. You can do this easily by setting up a water exploration table. Have a container of warm water on the table and a bucket of ice cubes. Make sure to have various pouring cups and containers and a myriad of toys for this activity. As you are playing, show your toddler the difference in temperature. You can also show them how something hot will melt things that are cold. Use the ice cubes in the warm water and watch them melt. You can also put the ice on the side walk and watch it evaporate from the "hot" sidewalk. Enjoy your exploration and have fun. This is a great activity for hot summer days!
Ice Painting
A simple and fun activity for your toddler is ice painting. It is a great way to enjoy a hot summer day. Use ice cubes to paint on the hot sidewalk or on construction paper if you prefer. The construction paper will turn dark as the water melts and then disappear as it evaporates. You can take the time to explore themes about evaporation and the water cycle if your child is old enough, or just have some fun with some ice and water on a hot day.
